MEETING OF THE WORLD WAR II – KOREAN WAR ROUNDTABLE

NOVEMBER TOPIC: Glenn Smith, B-24 navigator shot down over Germany. He evaded capture for 5 days and later in a prison camp he witnessed fighting between Luftwaffe guards and regular guards.

OCTOBER MEETING SUMMARY: Col “Speed” Wilson’s story began as a Texas teen age cowboy, progressed through World War II and Korea as a fighter pilot. He advanced to major command positions including the pentagon. His exploits include being shot down 3 times in the South Pacific and once over Korea. Especially harrowing were his night fighter missions over North Korea. The career of this highly decorated marine continues as an inspirational religious speaker. Our attendance was 129, the largest ever.

SPEAKERS FOR 2005 and 2006: Tom Adams is looking for speakers especially anyone who is knowledgeable about the battle for Okinawa. Tom Adams is our official “ speakers” recruiter. Call Tom at 330 668 3672 to volunteer or recommend others.

“LIVING HISTORY FOR OUR KIDS” continues as a major goal for 2005-2006. Let them meet our honored veterans. Also bring a friend.
